Paintball!

Come play paintball with the Excursion Club!! Paintball is undoubtably the most exciting events you can do with the Excursion Club at UCSB (according to former paintball leader The Great MSchaus). Spend an afternoon in the outdoors and have some adrenaline packed fun! You will meet some great people and then shoot them.

We go to a local spot known as Granny's Field that is very close. There are usually other people there and we sometimes play friendly matches with them.

How do you sign up to go play at one of the events?
Use one of two ways:

1. The best way is to sign up at the next meeting.

2. Send the paintball leader an email with who is coming, who needs rental equipment, and if you can drive (including the total number of seats in your car). An example email might look like this:

Dear Paintball Leader,
After hearing about your amazing skills and otherwise amazing awesomeness at the last event, I have decided I will attend the next event. I have a car with four total spots and need to rent equipment.
-Excursiontastic Person

Rental Equipment:
The club has two paintball markers with tanks and masks so the first two people to sign up get to use them for free. If you are renting equipment, you'll need to give whoever is organizing the event a $20 deposit to ensure you get to rent. Bringing it to the meeting is the easiest way. The paintball shop we are renting from has 20 sets of equipment, so act fast! (Also to make sure no one else in the general public gets the rentals before you do.)

Cost:
$30 total, which includes everything you need. This breaks down as: $19.50 for rental equipment (marker, tank, and mask), and $10-$12 for 500 paintballs. If you own your own equipment, you just need paint and air! (Dirt cheap!)

Meeting:
We generally meet 10 AM in front of IV Theater on the day of the event.

Some more details about the game:
If you signed up and need to cancel, let the leader know as soon as you can!! (phone or email)

Rides:
Everyone who has a car should take it to the meeting place to make sure we have enough rides. If your car isn't needed, you can just leave it there.

What to wear:
A comfortable long-sleeved shirt and pants that you do not mind if they get dirty or torn. Darker colors work the best. Real shoes, not flip flops. The more layers you wear the less it hurts when you get hit, but it also gets pretty hot running around.

Not needed, but helpful:
A baseball hat (or whatever) for protection from the sun and to protect your head while playing. Cleats or boots can be useful depending on how the weather has been. Volleyball kneepads under under pants are helpful because of all the kneeling you do, but any kind of pads would work. Light gloves can protect your fingers, but you'll be fine without them. Guys might want to put a sock (or something similar) in their pants to protect themselves from stray paintballs.

About renting:
You will need a credit card and an ID on the day of the event if you are renting equipment to put down a deposit while the equipment is in your posession.

We''re usually done by mid to late afternoon - whenever people run out of paint or get tired. 4 PM is the absolute latest for Sunday games (to return the rental equipment). We almost always stop at In-N-Out after we're done for a victory burger. It's amazing how much better they taste when your covered in dirt, sweat, and paint.

"Grab your balls and let's play!"
