Whitewater rafting is definitely one of the club's most popular trips. For the last two years we have gone up to the south fork of the American River located just east of Sacramento, California to run an 11-mile class III+/IV-stretch known as The Gorge. With rapids such as "Satan's Cesspool," "Bouncing Rock," and "Hospital Bar," the thrills were a plenty. We usually have two trips each spring, and this year we hope to run a trip down the Kern River as well as the American River.

Although rafting is incredibly fun, it can also be extremely dangerous if precautions are not taken. Only people with guiding experience are allowed to captain the boats, and everyone is required to wear a PFD (lifejacket) whenever they are on the boat. Safety and rescue equipment is also on hand should the need arise.
If you have any questions about whitewater rafting, contact Matt or Evan on the officer's page.

Our kayaking leader Heather usually leads a couple day trips a week. If you wanna check out dolphins, seals and sea lions and maybe enjoy the sunset in the ocean, then don't miss kayaking. The club has single and two person kayaks for you to borrow
